This is a cat that can swing, and he's humbly flaunting chops he's developed from years of working theatrical productions, cruise ships, events and nightclub gigs. You know his story: he studied with a bunch of people and did a bunch of workshops and did the house drummer trip at some coffee houses and whatnot. City College, big bands and combos, this cat has done it. His styles also encompass rock, funk and blues, but who cares? It's that straight-ahead/Latin/big band thing that feeds Nutty's kitty, and it's what makes "Cap'n D" a top cat. You'll notice that he often likes to snack between songs, especially when Sonny gets going with the audience. You know, strawberries in Tupperware on the snare… ...and, like that.
